Once upon a time, a long time ago, a princess was born in a kingdom. 12 fairies were invited to the celebration of her birth, bringing good wishes to the princess. But there was a thirteenth fairy who was not invited. But she came anyway and took revenge by cursing the princess: she should prick herself on a spindle on her 16th birthday and die. But one of the fairies had saved her wish and softened this curse into a 100-year sleep. Although the king had all spindles removed from his kingdom, on the princess's 16th birthday, what had been predicted happened: the princess pricked herself with a spindle and fell to the ground asleep. But not only she, but the entire court fell asleep and a hedge of thorns grew around the castle. Sleeping Beauty, as the princess was then called, could not be freed by any prince. It was not until 100 years later that a prince pushed through the thorn hedge, kissed Sleeping Beauty awake and celebrated a big wedding with her and the entire court. And they all lived happily everafter.
